10 voucher campaign ideas for coffee shops, restaurants and stores

A good voucher is more than a discount. It's a concrete reason for a customer to walk through your door, and if they add it in the Stampino app, they also get your loyalty card, so they have a reason to come back afterwards too.

All 10 ideas below are set up in the Stampino panel in a few minutes. Each one says what the customer gets, how the voucher reaches them and what you choose when you create the campaign, so you can use it as a starting point.

If you haven't created a voucher yet, start with the digital vouchers guide: it has the steps and the types of codes.

Ideas for the seasons ahead

Seasons are when customers are already looking for a reason to go out. A voucher sends them to you, not to the place across the street.

  1. Halloween: two stamps on the house. A shared code in an Instagram post that customers can add only during Halloween week. In Stampino: one shared code for everyone, stamps on your main offer, adding open until October 31.
  2. Black Friday without discounts. Instead of cutting a percentage off the price, give bonus stamps to whoever adds the code from your ad. The customer feels the win, and your margin stays intact, because stamps only turn into a reward if they come back. In Stampino: one shared code, with a maximum number of recipients if you want to cap your budget.
  3. A Christmas gift for loyal customers. Send a push notification to the customers who already have your card, with the shared code attached, and they add it with a single button. They collect the gift, say a pastry or a coffee, at the counter until December 24. In Stampino: one shared code, a reward you choose, adding open until December 24.
  4. A reason to come back in January. In the last week of the year, every customer gets a card with a code along with their receipt. The reward can be used until the end of January, when sales usually dip after the holidays. In Stampino: unique codes, one with every order, usable until a later date.

Ideas for new customers

Here the voucher has a second job: bringing the customer into your loyalty program. Anyone who didn't have your card gets it with the voucher, and the stats show how many new customers each campaign brought.

  1. The code in the delivery bag. Customers who order through a delivery platform belong to the platform, not to you. A card with a code in every bag invites them to you, with a reward on their next order or first visit. In Stampino: unique codes, one with every order. Also turn on Can be used without the app, so the reward works for people who don't want to install anything. There is more on this in the guide to delivery orders.
  2. Partnerships with your neighbours. The gym, salon or bookshop next door hands out your flyers with unique codes, and you hand out theirs. Create one campaign per partner, so you see exactly how many new customers each one brought. In Stampino: unique codes, once per customer.
  3. The welcome pack. For the residents of a new building, the staff of an office block nearby or the students in a dorm: a flyer with a gift on their first visit. In Stampino: unique codes, once per customer, with a short usage period, for example 30 days from when it's added.
  4. The first 100. At an opening, a reopening after a renovation or the launch of a new product, put a shared code on Instagram and in your window, valid only for the first 100 customers. The limit creates urgency, and the budget stays fixed. In Stampino: one shared code, with the maximum number of recipients set to 100.

Ideas for community and events

  1. Bring a friend. Give your loyal customers a card with a code to pass on to a friend. The friend gets a gift on their first visit and, with it, your loyalty card. Stampino doesn't record who brought whom, so think of this as a gesture for your good customers, not as a referral program with rewards. In Stampino: unique codes, once per customer.
  2. At a fair or festival. At your stand, a flyer with a code brings visitors to you after the event too. The stats tell you how many became customers and how many installed the Stampino app for your voucher. In Stampino: unique codes, once per customer, or one shared code on the stand's poster.

What to avoid

  • A period that's too long. A voucher valid with no limit gives no reason to come this week. A few days or a few weeks is usually enough.
  • The Once per customer option on delivery codes. With it on, each customer can add only one code from the campaign, so on their second order the code in the bag no longer works for them. For deliveries, leave it off.
  • The same campaign on every channel. If you put the same code on Instagram, on flyers and in your window, you can't tell what brought the customers in. One campaign per channel shows you exactly where to invest.
  • Conditions nobody checks. A voucher can't be automatically limited to certain hours or a minimum spend. If you have a condition, write it clearly in the description, and the cashier checks it when scanning a reward voucher. Stamps and points land on the card as soon as the customer adds the voucher.

How to tell which idea worked

For each campaign, the panel shows how many vouchers were added, how many were used, including how many without the app, how many new customers it brought and how many of them are new to Stampino. A campaign can be paused, resumed or ended at any time.

Compare campaigns by new customers, not just by vouchers used. A voucher used by someone who would have come anyway costs you, while one that brings a new customer into your program pays back more than once.

Vouchers are included in the Standard, Premium and Lite Plus plans. The full list of features is on the features page, and for the offer on the card itself there are 20 loyalty program ideas.

The Standard, Premium and Lite Plus plans. Standard and Lite Plus include 500 generated codes a month for each location, and Premium 1,000. A shared code counts as one code, however many customers add it.

Which idea works best for a coffee shop?

For customers who come often, the ones with stamps: Halloween or Black Friday with bonus stamps brings them closer to the reward on their card. For new customers, partnerships with your neighbours and the welcome pack, with a gift on the first visit.

Can I limit a voucher to certain hours or a minimum spend?

Not automatically. You can write the condition in the voucher's description, and the cashier checks it when scanning a reward voucher. Vouchers that give stamps or points are applied to the card as soon as the customer adds them.

How long should a voucher be valid?

Usually a few days or a few weeks. You choose until when customers can add it and how long they can use it after that: until the same date, a number of days from when they add it, until a later date, or with no limit.

Can I send a voucher only to some customers?

You can send a shared code in a push notification to all the customers who have your card. Printed unique codes reach only the people you hand the flyer, card or bag to.
